Strengthening Integrated Rehabilitation-Focused Medical Services for Rapid Recovery and Return
Enhancing the Social Role of Public Medical Institutions and Fostering a Culture of Communication
Daegu Hospital of the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (Director An Myeonhwan) held the inauguration ceremony for its 5th director, An Myeonhwan, in the auditorium on September 10.

The new director, An Myeonhwan, graduated from Kyungpook National University School of Medicine and served as a professor of orthopedics at Yeungnam University College of Medicine for 33 years. He also established and served as the director of the Spine Center at Yeungnam University Hospital.
He has held positions such as president of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society and president of the Korean Society for Biomaterials, and continues to be actively involved as an advisor to these societies.
He has also served as the head professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Interdisciplinary Program of Biomedical Engineering at Yeungnam University Graduate School. He has participated in the development of artificial hip joints, led research and development on spinal fixation devices and artificial bone formation, and has been active in various fields.
In his inaugural address, Director An Myeonhwan stated, "Daegu Hospital of the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service serves as a central institution for rehabilitation medicine in the region. We will provide optimal rehabilitation solutions for industrial accident workers to recover quickly and return to society through close cooperation among medical staff, rehabilitation teams, and welfare specialists." He added, "Based on the deep sense of mission that Daegu Hospital must fulfill as a public medical institution, I will do my utmost to ensure that our hospital is firmly established as a trusted center for industrial accident rehabilitation for both local residents and industrial accident patients."
Director An Myeonhwan also said, "A public medical institution should be more than just a place for treatment; it should be a space where patients can recover their lives. I will demonstrate leadership in communication and cooperation to create an organizational culture where all members of the hospital are respected and can demonstrate their expertise, so that we can build a trusted hospital culture together."
