Discovering Outstanding Restaurants in Hygiene and Service
Creating a Safe Dining Environment
Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province announced on September 11 that it will be accepting applications for new "2025 Model Restaurants" from September 22 to October 2, in an effort to create a dining environment where citizens and tourists can feel safe.
Eligible applicants include general restaurants and group catering facilities in the city that maintain excellent hygiene, provide friendly service, and meet the criteria for designation as a model restaurant. Applications can be submitted by mail, in person, by fax, or by email to the Health and Sanitation Division of Mokpo City or the Mokpo Branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association.
Model restaurants will be selected through a document review and on-site evaluation, with final designations to be made in October. Designated establishments will receive various benefits, including the installation of a certification sign, promotional support through the city website and various media outlets, and provision of hygiene supplies.
A city official stated, "The designation of model restaurants is significant in establishing a dining culture where citizens can feel safe by raising hygiene and service standards," adding, "We hope many establishments will show interest and participate for the development of the local food service industry."
Meanwhile, the city has been recruiting model restaurants annually, and those selected have established themselves as representative dining establishments of Mokpo, contributing to the advancement of the local dining culture.
