Community Participation by Youth, Women’s Groups, and Village Leaders
Sinan County in South Jeolla Province announced on September 11 that it will hold a "Life Love Campaign" for three days until September 12 to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day. This event is made more meaningful by the participation of a diverse range of groups, including youth, women's volunteer organizations, and village leaders.
On the first day, September 10, students and faculty members of Aphae Middle School, Aphae Police Substation, and the Sinan County Mental Health Welfare Center collaborated to conduct a "Welcome to School" campaign. They informed students about the suicide prevention hotline 109 and the youth mobile counseling service "Dadeureojulgae," emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about youth suicide prevention.
On the second day, 21 members of the Aphae-eup Women’s Association Council who completed the "Life Keeper" training were appointed as "Life Keeper Supporters." They will identify residents experiencing mental health difficulties and connect them with relevant organizations, officially joining community suicide prevention efforts.
On the final day, September 12, the county will promote the "Life Love Village with Village Leaders" project in conjunction with the Sinan County Village Leaders’ Association Unity Event. Village leaders will be encouraged to participate in suicide prevention programs, and the "Life Love" theme song will be played to spread the message of respect for life throughout the community.
A county official stated, "We will expand suicide prevention education and campaigns to all 14 towns and villages so that every resident can practice a culture of respect for life in their daily lives," adding, "We will build a village-centered suicide prevention environment by utilizing various local resources and a close-knit network."
