On September 11, Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province announced that it will carry out the removal of illegal advertisements around elementary schools in the area. This initiative, which aims to ensure safe routes for students commuting to and from school and to create a pleasant environment around schools, will continue until September 26.
The county will focus on removing illegal banners, posters, and standing signboards that threaten pedestrian safety, particularly along major roads and near schools. In addition, advertisements that are prohibited within child protection zones will be a key focus of inspections.
County employees and private personnel will participate in directly removing illegal advertisements on-site, working to create a safe and clean street environment. The county also plans to inspect old signboards and advertisements that pose safety risks, ensuring that students and residents can walk safely in these areas.
A county official stated, "Illegal advertisements not only harm the cityscape but can also be a cause of safety accidents," adding, "Through regular maintenance, we will create a school environment where students can walk with peace of mind."
Meanwhile, the county plans to continue its efforts to remove illegal advertisements around schools and will encourage voluntary participation from business owners to take the lead in creating a safe and pleasant local environment.
