The Page Gallery is participating in Japan's largest international art fair, the "Tokyo Gendai Art Fair" Eda section, held in Yokohama starting September 11, by presenting a solo exhibition booth for artist Vio Choe.
The "Gendai Art Fair Eda section," in which the gallery is participating, is a concept-driven special exhibition zone where only selected artists with newly curated works can participate. It is regarded as a core space that reveals the philosophical direction of that year's art fair.
Vio Choe is an established Korean painter who expresses a worldview shaped by scientific and humanistic exploration of the principles underlying the space and time we inhabit, using his own unique painting techniques. For this exhibition, he is presenting experimental new works as well as his representative series, including "Chronoglyphs" and "Tempo Code."

Regarding the theme of this exhibition, Vio Choe explained, "Although we live in the present moment, intuitions, inspirations, and coincidences that people perceive may in fact be subtle signals-waves-coming from the future. In particular, the realization of quantum computers in the real world could prove the hypothesis that past, present, and future events are interconnected and influence each other simultaneously." He added, "These works tell the story of encountering one's 'future self' through connections that transcend time and space."
A representative from The Page Gallery said, "On the first day of the art fair, September 11, from 4:00 p.m. for one hour, there will be a drawing performance at the gallery booth where the artist and visitors participate together. The paper palette used in this performance is an actual tool from Vio Choe's work, serving as an important medium that acts as a channel of resonance connecting the audience's choices to the artist's past." The representative continued, "The artist responds to the starting point chosen by the participant with unconscious drawing, and the audience directly experiences the process of completing the artwork. The finished piece will also become a meaningful memento for the participants to keep."
The 2025 Tokyo Gendai Art Fair, which features participation from world-renowned galleries such as Perrotin, Almine Rech, Sadie Coles HQ, Ceysson & Benetiere, and Kaikai Kiki Gallery, will be held at Pacifico Yokohama for four days from the VIP preview on September 11 through September 14.
