Jang Donghyuk: "Yongsan Lee Jaemyung, Yeouido Jung Chungrae, Chungjeongno Kim Eojun... Era of Three-Way Separation of Power"

"100 Days of Destruction, Creating a Democratic Party Republic"
"No Concrete Answers Were Heard Today"

Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, strongly criticized President Lee Jaemyung's 100th day in office press conference on September 11, stating, "It has been a period of turning the democratic republic, as stipulated in Article 1, Section 1 of the Constitution, into a Democratic Party republic," and added, "It was not 100 days of restoration, but 100 days of destruction."

Speaking with reporters at the National Assembly that afternoon, Jang remarked, "There is talk these days of Lee Jaemyung as the Yongsan President, Jeong Cheongrae as the Yeouido President, and Kim Eojun as the Chungjeongno President," and pointed out, "We are living in an era of 'three-way separation of power,' where authority is divided among one official president and two invisible presidents, making it seem as if there are three presidents."

Jang stated, "I assess the Lee Jaemyung administration as anti-economy, anti-freedom, anti-livelihood, and anti-democracy," adding, "It is an administration that simply reflects back the public's desire for genuine and future growth. Laws such as the Commercial Act and the Yellow Envelope Act are driving companies out of Korea, while harmful laws like the Broadcasting Act are shaking the very foundations of liberal democracy."

He continued, "Just as the Moon Jaein administration ushered in the era of 1,000 trillion won in national debt, the Lee Jaemyung administration is now opening the era of a 2,000 trillion won debt republic," adding, "Yet they claim the national debt is no big deal. The country is being run as if we only need to survive for a day. It is 'mayfly economics.'"

He further criticized, "The president is quick to take credit for resolving issues that should be easily handled by the responsible officials in government ministries, acting as if he is personally solving everything," and emphasized, "Even after 100 days, nothing tangible has been accomplished, yet the president is busy pretending to have set the table and is eager to take credit as if something has been achieved. We are witnessing a 'spoon president.'"

Jang said, "Right now, companies are crying out that they feel suffocated, and the public is asking what countermeasures the president has. Even today, in response to various questions, the public did not hear a single concrete answer about what the president actually intends to do."

Regarding President Lee's negative stance at the press conference on the previous day's special prosecutor bill agreement between the ruling and opposition floor leaders, Jang stated, "We oppose both the Government Organization Act and the special prosecutor bill," and pointed out, "(The Democratic Party) floor leader tried to quietly move things along as if negotiating, but because the Yeouido President and the Chungjeongno President intervened, this situation arose."

Jang emphasized, "We have no intention of making any deals. We oppose the special prosecutor bill regardless of how it is amended. And if the problems with the Government Organization Act are not resolved, we will oppose that as well."

When asked about President Lee's recent luncheon comment that "Jang is more flexible than expected, and we can have a conversation," but later said, "(Jang) seems different at Yeouido," Jang responded, "I wonder if the president's position changed because of messages from 'Gaeddal.'"

Jang asserted, "After moving from Yongsan to Yeouido, I have not said anything different from what was discussed at the meeting," and added, "During the meeting, the president urged cooperation with the opposition and, since the ruling party holds more, to yield and cooperate. Yet, he now says there is no need for a special prosecutor or to negotiate the Government Organization Act. Was there ever any real intention to engage in dialogue and cooperation?"
