Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyeon) announced on September 11 that it will implement the "2025 Interest Support Program for Rental Deposits and Loans for Newlywed Couples Without Homes" for newlywed couples without homes residing in the city, starting from September 15.

This program aims to help address the low birth rate by reducing the housing cost burden for newlywed couples without homes. It provides an annual subsidy equivalent to 1% of the outstanding balance of rental deposit and loan from financial institutions, up to a maximum of 1 million won per year, for up to seven years.
Eligible applicants must meet all of the following criteria as of the announcement date: both the resident registration and the address of the rented home must be registered in Guri City; the couple must be newlyweds who have registered their marriage within the past seven years and do not own a home; the combined household income must be at or below 180% of the median income; and the outstanding balance of the rental deposit and loan from financial institutions must be 200 million won or less per household (including residential officetels).
However, those who have signed a lease contract with a first-degree direct relative or their spouse, recipients of low-interest loans from the Housing and Urban Fund (such as the Bogeumjari Loan), residents of public rental housing, recipients of livelihood, medical, or housing benefits, and beneficiaries of other similar programs are excluded from eligibility.
To apply, applicants must prepare the required documents posted on the Guri City Hall website and submit them in person at their local administrative welfare center between September 15 and 26. After document screening, households confirmed as eligible will receive a subsidy equivalent to 1% of their outstanding loan balance (up to 1 million won per household), which will be paid in October.
Baek Kyunghyeon, Mayor of Guri City, stated, "I hope this support program will provide meaningful assistance for the housing stability of newlywed couples in our city who are struggling with financial burdens."
