The Sunchang Fermentation Tourism Foundation will host the "2025 Sunchang Fermentation Culture International Tourism Forum" for three days from the 12th to the 14th, at Shilland and various locations throughout Sunchang County.

The forum is co-hosted by Sunchang County, the Sunchang Fermentation Tourism Foundation, and the Jeonju University RISE Project Group, and is organized by the Tourism Content Society and the Korea Hotel Resort Association.

This event has been selected as a promising MICE event supported by North Jeolla Province, and is expected to yield practical results by encompassing both academic discussions and industrial applications.

The event will take place over three days: on the 12th, the opening ceremony and keynote speech will be held at the Shilland Grand Auditorium; on the 13th, an international academic conference will be held under the theme of "Fermentation Culture, Human Cultural Heritage, and Tourism"; and on the 14th, a Sunchang cultural experience program will be offered, centered around Gangcheonsan.

Notably, at the opening ceremony, Kim Hyunhwan, former First Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will deliver a keynote speech on "Strategies for Globalizing Fermentation Culture." Approximately 150 participants from five countries-Korea, Vietnam, Russia, Mongolia, and China-are expected to attend. Among them, about 50 are international experts in fermentation and tourism, making the forum a platform for exchange between academic and industrial circles both domestically and internationally.

A foundation representative stated, "This international forum will go beyond a simple cultural event to serve as a venue for in-depth discussion on the global expansion of the tourism industry centered on Sunchang's fermentation culture," adding, "We will use this forum as an opportunity to establish a strategic foundation for Sunchang to emerge as a world-class hub of fermentation culture."
