A coast guard officer in his 30s, who went missing while rescuing a stranded person in the tidal flats of Yeongheungdo, Incheon, was found in cardiac arrest.
According to the Incheon Coast Guard Station on September 11, the Special Operations Unit of the Central Regional Coast Guard found Sergeant A, a member of the Yeongheung Police Substation who had gone missing, at around 9:41 a.m. in the sea about 1.4 kilometers from Kkotseom Island, Yeongheung-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon.
At the time of discovery, Sergeant A was in cardiac arrest. The coast guard performed CPR and transported him to Jinduhang, where he was handed over to the fire department.

At about 3:30 a.m. that day, Sergeant A went missing while rescuing Mr. B, a man in his 70s who was stranded in the tidal flats near Kkotseom Island, Yeongheung-myeon. The coast guard deployed 21 vessels and 2 aircraft to conduct a search operation.
Sergeant A put his own life jacket on Mr. B, who had injured his foot, and tried to swim out with him. During this process, Sergeant A went missing. Mr. B, who was rescued, was transported to the hospital for hypothermia but is not in life-threatening condition.
The coast guard plans to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident.
