An event highlighting that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but the protagonists of today will be held for the first time in Gwangsan District, Gwangju.
On September 13, Gwangsan District announced that it will host the "1st Gwangsan Youth Day Festival" at the Gwangju Women's University Universiade Gymnasium. This event has been organized in accordance with the "Youth Day Ordinance" established in March this year. The theme is "Enjoy Youth, Shake Up Gwangsan."
During the festival, a commemorative ceremony will be held along with the proclamation of the "Gwangsan District Youth Charter," which was created by the youth themselves. The charter emphasizes the need to realize youth rights here and now.
Additionally, a youth assembly will take place, where policies discovered by young people will be presented. Seven teams, including "Chamdangdang," the youth participation group of the Gwangsan District Council, will propose eight agenda items. Priorities will be determined through discussion and voting. The district plans to link the outcomes of the assembly with the participatory budgeting system and incorporate them into actual policy.
Park Byungkyu, head of Gwangsan District, stated, "This will be a venue where young people can fully demonstrate their capabilities, raise their voices, and confidently stand as the protagonists of today, not just as future leaders."
