Busan Regional Headquarters of KOSHA Inspects Implementation of Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules at Construction Sites The Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency are conducting on-site inspections at high-risk construction sites located in Jin-gu, Busan, to prevent heat-related illnesses due to the heatwave and to prepare for construction machinery collision accidents.

During the inspection, officials emphasized the five basic heatwave safety rules (water, shade, rest, cooling equipment, and emergency measures) to ensure there are no lapses in protecting the health of construction workers amid the prolonged heatwave. They also checked the management status of rest facilities and the installation of cooling devices. In addition, they verified the operational status of construction machinery on-site to prevent collision accidents involving construction equipment.

Kim Junhui, head of the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, stated, "Construction sites are particularly vulnerable to heat-related illnesses due to the large amount of outdoor work. It is essential to regularly inspect the work environment using checklists for the five basic heatwave safety rules and to take proactive preventive measures to protect the health and lives of workers."
