A Coast Guard officer who was rescuing a resident stranded in a mudflat has gone missing, prompting a search operation by the Coast Guard.
According to the Incheon Coast Guard Station on September 11, at around 3:30 a.m. near Kkotseom in Yeongheung-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon, Officer A, a man in his 30s assigned to the Yeongheung Police Substation, went missing while rescuing a person stranded in the mudflat.
Officer A reportedly put his own life jacket on a man in his 70s, identified as B, who was stranded in the mudflat, and went missing while moving together. The Coast Guard has mobilized rescue teams, patrol vessels, hovercrafts, coastal rescue boats, and aircraft in the search for Officer A.
Meanwhile, B, who was safely rescued, was transported to a hospital after complaining of hypothermia, but is reportedly in stable condition.
