Lee Gaeho, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Damyang, Jangseong, Yeonggwang, and Hampyeong in South Jeolla Province, held a forum on the theme of "Energy Transition Era, Strategies for Fostering the Secondary Battery Industry in Jeonnam and Policy Tasks" at the 7th meeting room of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building on the 10th, jointly with Assemblywoman Kwon Hyangyeop and Gwangyang City.

The forum featured presentations including "Strategies for Fostering the Secondary Battery Industry in Jeonnam and Policy Tasks" by Professor Yoo Dongguk of Suncheon National University, who served as the moderator; "Trends in the Domestic, International, and Gwangyang Bay Area Secondary Battery Industry" by Park Jaebeom, Senior Researcher at POSCO Research Institute; "KEPCO’s Strategies and Outlook for Advanced Power Grid Operation" by Lee Jungho, Head of KEPCO’s North Chungcheong Headquarters; and "Regional Challenges for a Secondary Battery Specialized Complex in the Gwangyang Bay Area" by Professor Jung Kiyeong of Suncheon National University.

In his opening remarks, Assemblyman Lee stated, "Although fostering the secondary battery industry in the eastern region of Jeonnam has the potential to change the future of the province, there is currently a lack of future strategies for the secondary battery industry."

He further emphasized, "In order for this to become a new growth engine for Jeonnam, it is urgent to move beyond one-off support and establish an ecosystem linking education, research, and industry," adding, "We need to build infrastructure, battery foundries, dedicated battery accelerators, and analytical equipment."
