Gumi City Council 290th Extraordinary Session: Assemblyman Park Sechae's 5-Minute Free Speech

Calling for the Promotion of Transportation Welfare Policies and Measures to Realize Actual Land Prices
Effective Support and Policies Needed for Citizens

The Gumi City Council (Chairman Park Gyosang) officially began its legislative activities with the opening ceremony of the 290th extraordinary session in the main assembly hall on September 10, launching an eight-day schedule that will continue until September 17.

Prior to the introduction of the agenda items on this day, Assemblyman Park Sechae delivered a 5-minute free speech, urging the implementation of 'Promotion of Transportation Welfare Policies and the Establishment of Measures to Realize Actual Land Prices,' and offered recommendations to the executive branch.

Assemblyman Park stated, "In order to overcome the ongoing challenges facing the local economy amid the economic downturn, effective support and policies for citizens are essential." He further emphasized, "Improving traffic congestion and realizing actual land prices are issues directly tied to citizens' daily lives and the local economy. Through transportation welfare policies, we must reduce inconvenience for citizens, and by alleviating tax burdens, we should provide relief to small business owners."

The main schedule for this extraordinary session includes preliminary reviews of a total of 44 agenda items, such as 14 ordinance bills proposed by assembly members, as well as ordinance bills and consent bills submitted by the executive branch, and the 'Report on Measures Taken in Response to the 2025 Administrative Affairs Audit Findings.' These will be referred to each standing committee for a four-day preliminary review period from September 11 to September 16.

In particular, "The Gumi City Council will receive reports from each standing committee on the measures taken in response to the issues raised during the administrative affairs audit at the 288th first regular session. This report will not simply confirm the identified issues, but will also thoroughly examine the progress of implementation and future action plans, with in-depth discussions aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the measures taken."

On the final day, September 17, the second plenary session will be held, during which the agenda items reviewed by the standing committees will be put to a final vote.

Vice Chairman Yang Jino, who presided over the meeting, stated, "Through rigorous oversight and checks on municipal administration, we will strive to help Gumi City take another leap forward and ensure that the benefits are shared by all citizens." He added, "As we welcome the fruitful season of autumn, I wish abundant happiness and health to all citizens and their families."
