Democratic Party: "Song Eonseok's Call for Cooperation Is a 'Nationwide Intimidation Rally'... Beyond Shameless"

September 10 Negotiating Group Representative Speech

On September 10, the Democratic Party of Korea harshly criticized the National Assembly negotiating group speech delivered by Song Eonseok, floor leader of the People Power Party, calling it a "nationwide intimidation rally disguised as a call for cooperation."

Park Suhyeon, chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, stated during a briefing at the National Assembly's communication center that morning, "Floor Leader Song was busy disparaging the government's achievements as regressions and denigrating reforms as backsliding."

Chief Spokesperson Park further remarked, "Floor Leader Song justified obstructing the special prosecutor's investigation by labeling the settlement of insurrection as 'political retaliation and oppression of the opposition.' He is relentless in criticizing the Democratic Party's reforms as 'dismantling the state' and its livelihood recovery budget as 'a mountain of debt,' all while failing to offer a single word of apology or even sever ties with the insurrectionist forces who undermined constitutional order and threatened the people with guns and swords."

He continued, "Just two days ago, the leaders of both parties agreed to form a consultative body for livelihood and economic issues. Who, then, is fueling anti-democratic, anti-economic, and anti-unity agitation by ignoring the government and ruling party's efforts for dialogue and compromise?"

He went on to urge, "We hope the People Power Party will heed concerns and avoid standing before the 'constitutional court for dissolution of unconstitutional parties,' cut ties with insurrectionist forces, and join in a 'competition to do better' for the people."

That day, Floor Leader Song delivered a negotiating group speech at the regular session of the National Assembly, making strong remarks by characterizing the Lee Jaemyung administration, which marks its 100th day in office, as "Honyongmudo" (a foolish ruler plunges the world into chaos).
