Gangseo District Issues 10 Billion Won Gift Certificates for Chuseok with Up to 10% Benefits

From 5:00 p.m. on the 17th

Gangseo District in Seoul (District Mayor Jin Kyohun) will issue the "Seoul Gangseo Love Gift Certificate" on September 17, with a total value of 10 billion won. This measure is intended to ease the burden of shopping for residents ahead of the Chuseok holiday and to revitalize the local economy. The issuance scale has been nearly doubled from the previous monthly range of 3 to 6 billion won.

This gift certificate offers an immediate 7% discount at the time of purchase and a 3% payback on the payment amount, providing a maximum benefit of 10%. This is 3% higher than the 7% discount that was applied until July.

The gift certificate can be purchased from 5:00 p.m. on September 17 through the dedicated app "Seoul Pay Plus (Seoul Pay+)," with a maximum purchase limit of 500,000 won per person and a maximum holding limit of 1.5 million won per individual. The validity period is five years from the date of issuance. However, for corporations, there is no holding limit, but the discount benefits do not apply.

The gift certificate can be used at approximately 26,000 affiliated stores within Gangseo District, including restaurants, hair salons, pharmacies, and convenience stores. When using the gift certificate, 30% of the payment amount is eligible for income tax deduction, and small business owners are exempt from payment processing fees, which is expected to provide substantial support.

This September, the gift certificate will be issued temporarily at 5:00 p.m. on the 17th, but starting in October, it will be issued regularly at 11:00 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. To further boost the local economy, Gangseo District has increased the total issuance from 40 billion won last year by an additional 12 billion won, bringing this year's total to 52 billion won.
