Thirty-Four National Heritage Education Programs Selected
Digital Transformation at Gaeunpo Naval Command Post and Gijang Eupseong
The National Heritage Administration announced on the 10th that it has selected thirty-four educational programs through a public contest for the "Regional National Heritage Education Revitalization Project."
This project encompasses school education including kindergartens, local residents, after-school youth, and vulnerable groups. It will be operated through a variety of methods such as lectures and discussions led by professional instructors, visits to historical sites, experiences with intangible heritage, educational materials and digital content, and hands-on learning utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).
The most notable feature is the use of AI, reflecting the digital era. Programs include "Gijang Eupseong, the Fortress That Illuminates My Path" in Gijang, Busan; "Defend the East Sea: Gaeunpo AI Naval Command Post" in Nam-gu, Ulsan; "Gongju IN National Heritage" in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province; and "National Heritage Education Revitalization Project in Gangneung: Our Heritage, Our Future" in Gangneung, Gangwon Province.
Many experiential programs tailored to regional characteristics were also selected. These include "Bitgoeul Nam-gu National Heritage Exploration Team" in Nam-gu, Gwangju; "Dajeongdagam Sejong Tour, National Heritage Experiential Education" in Sejong; "Meeting Park Yeon at School" in Yeongdong, North Chungcheong Province; "Traveling Jeonju Kite Play for Local Intangible Heritage" in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province; and "Gochang Nongak, Together for the Future" in Gochang, North Jeolla Province.
An official from the National Heritage Administration stated, "As this is a public project funded by the lottery fund, we will ensure that even regions at risk of depopulation, people with disabilities, and multicultural families, as vulnerable groups, receive educational benefits without discrimination."
