25 Participants per Session on a First-Come, First-Served Basis
Participation Fee: 40,000 Won
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province is now recruiting participants for the regionally specialized healing pilgrimage program, "2025 Jeonju Seongjihyeyumgil," which offers opportunities to experience the history, religion, and culture of Jeonju.
According to the city on September 9, this program has been designed as a stay-type religious and cultural tourism product, allowing participants to experience Jeonju’s diverse religious culture and traditional heritage, while providing time for reflection and healing.
The program will run every Thursday as an overnight, two-day event, for a total of 10 sessions from this month through November. The participation fee is 40,000 won, which includes meals and accommodation.
This religious and cultural tour consists of two separate courses. The first course features Christian and Catholic religious resources and traditional cultural experiences (such as Hanok, Hyangsarye, and Gijeopnori), with visits to the Modern Christian History Memorial Hall, Jeonju Gijeopnori Transmission Center, and the Traditional Culture Training Institute.
The second course includes resources from four major religions (Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, and Cheondogyo) as well as a templestay experience, with visits to Chimyungjasan Holy Site and Peace Hall, Parangsaegwan & Nokdugwan, and the Modern Christian History Memorial Hall.
Notably, a religious and cultural interpreter will accompany the program to provide in-depth explanations, and a variety of traditional Jeonju cultural experience programs will also be offered. Applications can be submitted via the Nambuk Travel website or by phone, and since registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, early application is recommended.
A city official stated, "This 'Seongjihyeyumgil' program will provide a special opportunity for relaxation and healing in Jeonju, the birthplace of the Joseon Dynasty and a city rich in diverse religions and cultures."
Meanwhile, the "Jeonju Seongjihyeyumgil" program is being implemented as part of the West Inland Tourism Promotion Project under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and is scheduled to continue next year following this year’s operation.
