On September 8, Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced the conclusion of the '2025 Social Welfare Day Ceremony,' which was held at the Gori Sports Center Multi-Purpose Performance Hall on the same day.
This event, held to commemorate the 26th Social Welfare Day (September 7), was organized to encourage the dedication of social welfare workers and to promote the vision of a welfare community where all residents can enjoy happiness together.
As a core event of the first-ever 'Gijang Social Welfare Week' (September 1-12), it was jointly supported by the Gijang County Council, the Busan Social Workers Association Gijang Branch, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, and the Gijang County Urban Management Corporation.
The ceremony was attended by Governor Jung Jongbok, Council Chair Park Hongbok, county council members, and over 300 social welfare workers and officials. The program included a social worker vlog screening, awards for exemplary social workers and contributors, an awards ceremony for outstanding organizations in the 'Warm Connection' challenge, a commemorative performance, and a special lecture by Professor Kim Youngjong.
The vlog video capturing voices from the field resonated deeply with the audience, and three organizations received outstanding institution awards in the challenge contest themed 'Small Acts of Sharing,' reaffirming the importance of solidarity within the local community.
Governor Jung Jongbok emphasized, "Social welfare is not just a service but a noble mission that protects human dignity. I am deeply grateful for the dedication of social workers. We will continue to listen to voices from the field and build a stronger welfare safety net."
In celebration of the first Social Welfare Week this year, Gijang County is running resident participation programs such as video content production and a challenge contest. Governor Jung is also strengthening communication by personally visiting local social welfare facilities to listen to their challenges.
