Jinhae District of Changwon Special City to Create Shared Parking Lots Utilizing Vacant Land Including Dudong Area

A Total of 75 Parking Spaces to Be Created
Plan to Secure 217 Spaces by Year-End

Jinhae District in Changwon Special City, South Gyeongsang Province, conducted on-site inspections on September 8 at five planned sites for shared parking lots utilizing vacant land, including Dudong in Jinhae District, to address the shortage of parking spaces in the city center.

As a result of the inspections conducted that day, the district plans to create a total of 75 parking spaces.

The vacant land parking lot project utilizes long-term idle land that has had no development plans for more than two years. With the consent of landowners, these lots are converted into parking lots, which are opened to the public free of charge. In return, landowners receive a 100% reduction in property tax. This is a public interest initiative.

In the first half of this year, Jinhae District established two temporary shared parking lots on vacant land at 147-1 Seokdong and 1250-7 Nammun-dong, providing a total of 142 parking spaces. In the second half, the district plans to create and operate additional temporary shared parking lots on vacant land at 1673 Dudong and four other locations in Jinhae District, adding a total of 75 parking spaces.

Hyunseop Jung, mayor of Jinhae District Office, stated, "We will continue to make the most efficient use of vacant land in Jinhae District to alleviate the shortage of parking spaces in the city center. During the operation of temporary public parking lots, we will conduct regular facility inspections and ensure safety management to provide residents with a more convenient parking environment."
