Democratic Party Supreme Council Meeting Held on September 8
Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the prosecution's loss of the Geonjin Beopsa talisman band, saying, "I wonder if this is not a case of systematic cover-up," and added, "We will consider independent investigative measures, including a permanent special prosecutor, to uncover the hidden truth."

At the Supreme Council meeting of the Democratic Party held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on September 8, Jeong stated, "President Lee Jaemyung also pointed out the possibility of an inadequate investigation and instructed us to prepare measures such as a permanent special prosecutor," conveying this message.
He pointed out that, during the legislative hearing of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee on September 5, investigators involved in the case had written memos such as "Everyone else discards it, you bastards," and "I don't care about disposal," and said, "At a hearing that asks the truth on behalf of the people's eyes and ears, the investigator mocked the hearing and insulted the common sense of the public."
Jeong stated, "The reason the prosecution can be so brazen is because they fear their own organization more than the people," and warned, "The prosecution is an institution for the people, not for itself."
He further emphasized, "The arrogant attitude of betraying the true masters just to protect their own is merely evidence that prosecution reform is desperately needed," and added, "Prosecution reform is being accelerated by the prosecution itself."
Meanwhile, Jeong officially apologized for the controversy over secondary victimization remarks made by Choi Kangwook, former head of the Democratic Party's Education Training Institute, regarding the sexual misconduct case in the Cho Kuk Innovation Party. Jeong said, "As party leader, I sincerely apologize to the victims and the public for the concern caused in relation to former head Choi," and added, "The Ethics Tribunal will take appropriate measures, and we will establish strict party discipline to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the future."
