Busan Office of Education Draws 43 Entries for First Work Automation Program Competition... Hopes High for Reduced Workload

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) has seen growing anticipation at schools as 43 entries were submitted for the first-ever "Work Automation Program Development Competition" launched this year to reduce the workload of faculty and staff.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 8th that submissions closed on August 29, and the judging process is now underway. The purpose of the competition is to discover programs developed directly by faculty and staff, enabling immediate application in schools.

Of the entries, 24 were related to education, such as academic records, attendance, and various applications, all of which teachers can utilize. This was followed by 15 entries related to administrative work, such as accounting and payroll for administrative offices, and 4 entries in other categories.

The judging will be based on five criteria: creativity, usability, completeness, general applicability, and scalability. The process consists of a first preliminary review and a second integrated evaluation. The first round of judging began on September 4, and the second round will continue until October 17. The final results will be announced on the 27th, and the awards ceremony will take place on the 31st of the same month.

A total of 13 million won will be awarded to six teams: one grand prize team (5 million won), two excellence award teams (2.5 million won each), and three encouragement award teams (1 million won each). The winning programs will be distributed to institutions and schools after a generalization process in consultation with relevant departments.

Superintendent Kim Seokjun said, "It is very encouraging that so many faculty and staff participated in this competition," adding, "We will ensure a fair review so that the developed programs can be effective in actual school settings. I hope this competition will serve as an opportunity to discover various automation cases that can contribute to reducing workload and improving administrative efficiency."
