“Continuing Warmth”
A Series of Events:
The 3rd ON-Golmok Festa, Narae-gil Lighting Ceremony, and Obong Mandi Film Festival to Be Held in Succession
Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province (Mayor Na Dongyeon) will host the 3rd ON-Golmok Festa for 16 days from September 13 to 28 in the Pyeongsan Food Alley area.
This year’s event, held under the subtitle “Continuing Warmth,” aims to carry on the warmth that filled the original downtown of Bukbu-dong in July. The festival will feature a variety of performances, hands-on experiences, and other events designed to both boost consumption and spark interest, making it a vibrant and rewarding alley festival.
During the festival, citizens who make purchases at participating stores using the Yangsan Love Card will receive a 15% reward rate, up from the regular September rate of 13%. In addition, participating stores will offer an extra 5% discount, allowing citizens to enjoy more affordable spending while local merchants and businesses can expect increased sales.
Alongside the festival, each merchants’ association will carry out unique initiatives as part of Yangsan City’s “Alley Commercial District Revitalization Support Project.”
The Narae Metro City Shopping Center Merchants’ Association in Mulgeum-eup will hold the “Narae-gil Lighting Ceremony” at 6:30 p.m. on September 11, signaling a transformation of the alley into a lively night-time commercial district. Meanwhile, the Obong Cheongnyong-ro Prosperity Association will host the “Obong Mandi Film Festival” on September 20 in the Obong Cheongnyong-ro area of Mulgeum-eup, turning the alley into an outdoor theater for families and offering citizen-participation programs such as a flea market.
With the ON-Golmok Festa and various merchant-led programs coming together, expectations are high that the alley commercial districts will regain their vibrancy and be filled with a festive atmosphere.
An official from Yangsan City stated, “The ON-Golmok Festa and the Alley Commercial District Revitalization Support Project are meaningful because they are led by the merchants’ associations, creating a sustainable commercial environment. We will actively support the efforts of the merchants’ associations so that their work can revitalize the local economy and make the alleys bustling spaces once again.”
