Hosted by the Korea Association for ICT Promotion,
Event Sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT
Shinhan Card announced on September 8 that it will participate as the main organizer of the "2025 Big Contest," hosted by the Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT) and the AI Data Forum.
At the event, Shinhan Card will present the development of support solutions for small business merchants as its main theme. The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA). It will run until October 24.
The purpose of the event is to discover innovative ideas and outstanding talent based on artificial intelligence (AI) data. Teams or individuals, consisting of university (graduate) students and the general public, will compete in areas such as AI and data analysis.
Leveraging its expertise in the data business, Shinhan Card will propose topics, serve as a judge, and present awards at the event. In the previous contest, the company raised the topic of "Developing a conversational AI service for restaurant recommendations in Jeju Island using large language models (LLM)."
For the AI data analysis category, Shinhan Card suggested the development of an AI early warning system under the theme "Data Challenge for Predicting the Future: Detect Crisis Signals at Local Merchants in Advance!"
In the AI data utilization category, the company proposed the development of an AI agent that provides customized marketing strategies under the theme "AI Secret Consultant to Save My Store: Find the Perfect Marketing Strategy for Each Merchant!"
This announcement aims to help stabilize the management of small business owners who are struggling due to the economic downturn, high inflation, and rising rents. The goal is to derive practical management support measures using AI technology, taking into account the difficulties small business owners face with digital transformation and data utilization.
To support participants in developing solutions that can be practically applied, Shinhan Card will provide small business restaurant merchant and consumption data. The company will offer data necessary for merchant operations, such as merchant overviews, monthly usage information, and customer usage data, enabling practical analysis and development by integrating with external data.
Shinhan Card also plans to hold an internal AI competition for its employees on the same theme. The aim is to create practical solutions by utilizing not only the data and IT-related departments but also the expertise of departments such as sales, marketing, and risk management, combined with data analysis and AI development capabilities. Outstanding ideas will be directly applied to the merchant support business through actual service development.
A Shinhan Card representative stated, "Participating as the main organizer of the event and holding an internal competition are part of Shinhan Card's efforts to fulfill its social responsibility to help stabilize the management of small business owners," adding, "We will discover innovative solutions that contribute to building a mutually beneficial ecosystem for merchants through the creative ideas and technical skills of participants, and outstanding solutions will be commercialized."
Shinhan Card launched the industry's first big data consulting business in 2014. The company has developed a variety of data products and services using card payment data. In 2023, it was designated as the first private company to become a data-specialized institution.
Last year, Shinhan Card opened the data business platform "Databada," providing customized data products such as commercial district and consumption trend analysis and data-driven solutions to public institutions, local governments, private companies, and research institutes.
