On the morning of the 8th, while arriving at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Acting Prosecutor General Seok told reporters, "The prosecution, which is stipulated in the Constitution, is now at risk of being renamed by law," expressing his concerns.
He added, "The detailed direction for future prosecution reform will be developed," and emphasized, "I hope that these details will be designed from the perspective of the people."
When asked about the ongoing debate over the retention of supplementary investigation rights, he responded, "We, as the prosecution, will also present our position as the process moves forward."
Previously, the Democratic Party, the government, and the Presidential Office finalized and officially announced a government organization law at the 3rd High-Level Party-Government Council meeting held the previous day, which includes abolishing the Prosecutors' Office and establishing the Serious Crime Investigation Office and the Public Prosecution Office. The Democratic Party plans to process the finalized government organization law amendment, which has been coordinated with the government, at the National Assembly plenary session on the 25th.
