SKT Invests 2.2 Billion Yen in Japan's TimeTree... First Overseas Application of AI Assistant

SK Telecom has made a strategic investment in TimeTree, a Japanese schedule-sharing platform company, as part of its push to enter the global artificial intelligence (AI) assistant (agent) market. This marks the first time SK Telecom's AI assistant technology will be applied to an overseas service.

On September 5, 2025, SK Telecom announced that it had signed an investment contract and strategic partnership with TimeTree in Tokyo, Japan. Under this agreement, SK Telecom will invest 2.2 billion yen (approximately 20.62 billion won) in TimeTree. Founded in Japan in 2014, TimeTree operates the schedule-sharing application "TimeTree," which is used by more than 67 million people worldwide. The company has been growing rapidly, earning the nickname "the second Line" in Japan.

Through this collaboration, SK Telecom will apply its core technology, "Agentic Workflow," which was introduced through its AI assistant service "A.," to TimeTree. "Agentic Workflow" is a technique that goes beyond simply executing user requests; it sets goals and plans and executes necessary tasks based on usage records. It is regarded as a key technology for improving AI assistant performance.

The two companies plan to integrate this technology so that TimeTree can evolve from a simple schedule management tool into an AI-based service that actively analyzes user schedules, patterns, and preferences to recommend optimized activities and events.

Yoo Youngsang, CEO of SK Telecom, stated, "The partnership with TimeTree is an opportunity for SK Telecom to create new value in the global market through AI assistant technology. We aim to lead the expansion of the AI assistant ecosystem in both Korea and Japan."

Park Chajin, CEO of TimeTree, emphasized, "This partnership will be a turning point for TimeTree as we expand into Korea and globally. Together with SK Telecom, we will spread a new paradigm of 'schedule-centric AI assistants.'"
