According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, the maximum perceived temperature in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius, higher than the seasonal average, resulting in sweltering heat. However, relatively heavy rain is expected to begin at night.

The expected rainfall through the morning of September 9 is between 30mm and 80mm, with some areas possibly receiving more than 100mm. In particular, intense rainfall of up to 30mm per hour is anticipated, and rain is expected to continue along the southern coast of South Jeolla Province until the morning of September 10.

The heat wave continues to persist. Currently, heat wave advisories are in effect across all 22 cities and counties in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, with a heat wave warning issued for Goheung and advisories for the remaining areas. However, as cold and dry air moves down from the north, heat wave advisories are expected to be gradually lifted or eased in some regions.

An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration urged residents to prepare for damage caused by heavy rain concentrated in specific areas over a short period and to pay close attention to real-time weather updates.
