In March, the Mobile Patrol Unit consulted with the Safety Management Division of Pohang City Hall and conducted on-site inspections, focusing on districts with frequent criminal incidents. Together with the CCTV management team, they thoroughly analyzed vulnerabilities such as theft and burglary, finalized the installation sites, and by early September had newly installed CCTVs at a total of 13 locations.

A budget of 150 million won was allocated for this project. The installed CCTVs provide 24-hour real-time monitoring and are expected to serve not only as crucial evidence in the event of a crime but also as a preventive measure by deterring potential criminal activity.

A representative from the Mobile Patrol Unit stated, "Ensuring citizen safety is a challenge that both local governments and the police must address together," emphasizing, "We will continue to create a living environment where local residents can feel secure."

Residents are also responding positively. One local shop owner said, "I used to feel anxious because thefts happened frequently at night, but now I feel reassured with the CCTVs installed. I am also much more at ease when my children come home late."

The Gyeongbuk Police Agency emphasized, "We will continue to expand crime prevention infrastructure tailored to the characteristics of each region to enhance residents' sense of safety," and added, "We will further strengthen cooperation with local governments to address areas vulnerable to crime."

The safety of local residents is an invaluable priority. The installation of security CCTVs goes beyond simply expanding facilities; it stands as a leading example of how local governments and the police can work together to alleviate public concerns. It is hoped that this initiative will lead to an even stronger safety network throughout Gyeongbuk.
