"Only in Cases of Urgency or Necessity"
Following the arrest of around 300 Koreans at the joint battery factory construction site of Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution in Georgia, Hyundai Motor Group has decided to postpone business trips to the United States for the time being.
According to industry sources on September 7, Hyundai Motor Group advised employees scheduled for business trips to the United States next week to reconsider unless the trip is absolutely essential, stating, "We recommend postponement unless it is unavoidable," and added, "Only urgent and essential business trips will be permitted."
Although none of the individuals detained this time were Hyundai Motor Group executives or employees, the company appears to have taken these measures in preparation for any additional incidents that may arise.

Previously, Hyundai Motor Group's US subsidiary stated, "We are doing our utmost to strictly comply with laws and regulations in every market where we operate, including employment verification requirements and immigration laws," and added, "We are thoroughly reviewing the employment practices of contractors and subcontractors."
As a result of this immigration enforcement action, 47 people affiliated with LG Energy Solution (46 Korean nationals and 1 Indonesian national) and approximately 250 people from partner companies involved in the joint battery factory's equipment were detained.
