Internet Users Alarmed by Indistinguishable Deepfakes
Calls Grow for Mandatory AI Composite Labels
A photo of BLACKPINK member Lisa with an American entrepreneur has drawn attention for a different reason. The entrepreneur attached a warning to the photo, saying, "Don't be fooled by fake images."
This photo is an AI-generated composite image. Internet users expressed concerns about deepfake crimes, saying that it is "indistinguishable from reality."

Kevin Shyu, founder of the social trading app After Hours, recently posted a photo on his social media, claiming, "I met BLACKPINK's Lisa." The photo showed the two sitting side by side in chairs.
He explained, "We had a pleasant time chatting through an investor introduction and talking about drinks, and Lisa kindly took a selfie with me." He then added, "In reality, nothing happened. This is just a composite image generated in seconds using Nano Banana."
He continued, "It now costs nothing to create fake images. Soon, scammers will flood the internet with fake photos and stories like this," warning, "Don't believe every selfie you see online."
Google's image-generating AI model, Nano Banana, immediately drew attention upon its release for producing results nearly impossible to distinguish from real images. However, there are growing concerns that fake images indistinguishable from reality, like deepfakes, could cause confusion or be misused.
Internet users agreed with Kevin Shyu's warning about releasing photos that are difficult to differentiate from reality. They reacted with shock, saying, "It really looks like it was taken with Lisa," and "Now I can't trust any photo," while also commenting, "There should be a mandatory label for AI composites," and "It seems like the era of large-scale scams is coming."
