Joo Jinwoo, a member of the People Power Party, announced on September 7 that he will file a criminal complaint against officials of the Innovation Party and Choi Kangwook, former head of the Education Training Institute of the Democratic Party, over allegations of secondary victimization related to the sexual misconduct case within the Innovation Party.
Assemblyman Joo stated in a press release on this day, "Tomorrow, I will file a criminal complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against the Innovation Party officials and former head Choi on charges including violations of the Sexual Violence Prevention Act and defamation."

He argued that the unidentified Innovation Party officials violated the Sexual Violence Prevention Act by failing to provide protective measures for the victims of sexual violence, and instead attempting disciplinary action, forcing resignations, and pressuring victims to withdraw assault reports.
Assemblyman Joo also stated that former head Choi's remarks regarding the incident-such as "This is not a matter of life and death" and referring to victims as "pigs and dogs"-should be considered defamation against the victims.
Meanwhile, on this day, the leadership of the Innovation Party, including acting leader Kim Sunmin, collectively resigned to take responsibility for the sexual misconduct case within the party. Former head Choi also stepped down from his position at the Education Training Institute on the same day.
