Analysis of Preliminary Scores from September Mock Evaluation by Jongro Academy
According to the preliminary scoring results of the September mock test for the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), the minimum scores required to apply for regular admission to 'SKY' universities-Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University-were analyzed as 259 points (out of 300) for the humanities track and 266 points for the natural sciences track.
Jongro Academy announced on the 7th that it calculated the expected minimum scores for regular admission to major university departments based on the preliminary scores from the September mock test, resulting in these findings.
For the humanities track, the College of Business Administration at Seoul National University had the highest expected cutoff at 282 points. Yonsei University and Korea University’s business departments were projected at 260 points each. This was followed by Sungkyunkwan University’s Global Business Administration at 259 points, Sogang University’s School of Business at 259 points, Hanyang University’s Department of Policy Studies at 257 points, Chung-Ang University’s School of Business (Global Finance) at 256 points, and Kyung Hee University’s Department of Business Administration at 255 points.
For the natural sciences track, the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Seoul National University was at the top with 279 points. Yonsei University’s Department of System Semiconductor Engineering and Korea University’s Department of Semiconductor Engineering were each projected at 269 points. Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Semiconductor System Engineering and Hanyang University’s Department of Future Automotive Engineering were each at 266 points, Sogang University’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at 261 points, Chung-Ang University’s School of Software at 257 points, and Kyung Hee University’s School of Future Information Display at 251 points.
The estimated minimum scores for admission to four-year universities in Seoul were 216 points for the humanities track and 212 points for the natural sciences track.
The expected cutoff scores for medical, dental, oriental medicine, and pharmacy schools were even higher nationwide. Medical schools were projected at 276 to 292 points, dental schools at 272 to 283 points, oriental medicine schools at 269 to 276 points, and pharmacy schools at 266 to 279 points. Notably, Seoul National University’s medical school had the highest expected cutoff at 292 points, followed by Yonsei University’s medical school at 288 points. Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Catholic University, and Ulsan University’s medical schools were all analyzed at 286 points. For science and engineering departments at SKY universities, excluding medical and pharmaceutical tracks, the minimum cutoff ranged from 266 to 281 points.
Jongro Academy identified the reduction in medical school admissions quotas this year and the increase in the number of third-year high school students as factors contributing to the rise in cutoff scores. The number of third-year high school students this year has increased by 47,000 compared to last year, making the competition even fiercer.
Meanwhile, applications for early admission will be accepted from the 8th to the 12th. Seoul National University and Korea University will close applications on the 10th, while Yonsei University will close on the 11th. Jongro Academy stated, "The reduction in medical school admissions quotas and the increase in the number of third-year high school students have contributed to the rise in early admission cutoff scores," adding, "It is expected that top students from regional areas will concentrate their applications on medical schools."
