Gwangju Jeonnam Future Vision held a meeting on the morning of September 4 at Damyang County Office to discuss the creation of the "Damyang Food Master K-Food Valley."
Attendees at the meeting included Jung Chulwon, mayor of Damyang County; Jeon Deokyoung, co-representative of Gwangju Jeonnam Future Vision; Lee Jaeseok, chair of the operations committee of Gwangju Jeonnam Future Vision; as well as food masters Gi Sundo, Park Sunae, and An Bokja.
Co-representative Jeon Deokyoung explained the strategy for promoting the "Damyang Food Master K-Food Valley," stating, "Damyang County is home to six of the 82 food masters nationwide," and added, "Damyang is a rare example among county-level local governments, as it is an ideal location to combine the traditional food industry with wellness tourism."
In response, Jung Chulwon, mayor of Damyang County, said, "The strategy of consolidating Damyang's traditional food master assets and integrating them with the tourism and wellness industries is highly significant as a future growth engine for the region," and added, "We will proceed with specialized aspects of this initiative through county-level research projects."
This meeting is being evaluated as a starting point for Damyang County and the local expert network to join forces and take the first step toward establishing Damyang as a 'gourmet healing city.'
Meanwhile, Gwangju Jeonnam Future Vision is a group launched in November 2025 to propose policies that contribute to the development of local industries and the stability of daily life.
