Full Tuition and Living Expense Support for Freshmen
Expanded Overseas Study Opportunities and Exceptional Benefits
National Suncheon University (President Lee Byungwoon) announced on September 5 that it will recruit 1,649 new students through its 2026 early admission process. The university also stated that, based on its achievements in major national projects such as the Glocal University 30, Jeonnam RISE, and the National University Development Project, it will provide exceptional support benefits to incoming freshmen.
Suncheon University was selected for the Ministry of Education's Glocal University 30 project, securing 323.5 billion won over five years, and obtained 68 billion won through the Jeonnam RISE (Regional Innovation-based University Support System) project. Additionally, in the 2025 performance evaluation for the National University Development Project, Suncheon University was the only national university in the Honam region to achieve the highest grade (S grade) for two consecutive years, securing an additional 12.5 billion won.
Building on these achievements, Suncheon University will offer new, customized scholarship programs for freshmen in addition to its existing 150 scholarship systems. These include the "Glocal Outstanding Talent Scholarship," which covers full tuition and provides 6 million won per year in living expenses, and the "Glocal Settlement Support Scholarship," which provides 1 million won in living expenses.
To help students develop international competencies, the university will offer a variety of global learning and exchange opportunities, such as study tours to advanced countries like those in Europe (up to 9 million won per person), the "Youth to the World" exploration program (8 million won per team), and exchange programs with 24 overseas institutions.
Following its selection for the Glocal University 30 project, Suncheon University will operate 21 integrated glocal admissions units centered on three newly reorganized specialized fields: Green Smart Farm School, Animation and Cultural Content School, and Aerospace and Advanced Materials School. Specifically, the university will recruit 299 students in the life industry and science field, 269 in the social sciences, 90 in the humanities, 145 in the arts and physical education, and 383 in engineering. To further broaden the range of academic choices, the university will also admit 110 students to the interdisciplinary major department.
Kang Heesoon, Director of Admissions, stated, "We will provide guidance and support so that the newly prepared scholarship programs and initiatives can offer real benefits to prospective students. We hope that by continuing to provide admissions information tailored to students' needs, many outstanding talents from across the country will choose to study at Suncheon University."
