The special prosecutor team led by Min Jungki, which is investigating allegations surrounding First Lady Kim Keonhee, has summoned former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo for questioning.
At a press briefing on the 5th, a spokesperson for the special prosecutor's team stated, "Today, we sent a written request by mail, demanding that former Prime Minister Han appear as a reference witness before the special prosecutor at 10 a.m. on September 9."
The spokesperson added, "This is to confirm the circumstances surrounding the appointment of former Prime Minister's Chief Secretary Park Seonggeun, in connection with the case involving suspicions that Seohee Construction provided luxury jewelry, such as a Van Cleef necklace, as gifts."
Former Chief Secretary Park is the eldest son-in-law of Lee Bonggwan, Chairman of Seohee Construction, and is implicated in allegations that Seohee Construction provided First Lady Kim with expensive necklaces and other 'NATO three-piece' items and made personnel requests.
Additionally, the special prosecutor's team has notified Han Hakja, President of the Unification Church, to appear for questioning on the 11th. A spokesperson for the special prosecutor's team said, "This morning, President Han Hakja of the Unification Church submitted a written statement explaining her inability to attend the initial summons scheduled for the 8th. Therefore, we have sent a second written request by mail, demanding her appearance at 10 a.m. on the 11th."
On the morning of the same day, the special prosecutor's team conducted searches and seizures at the National Education Commission and the Presidential Security Service. The team is investigating First Lady Kim and Kim Sunghoon, former Deputy Chief of the Presidential Security Service, in connection with suspicions of an onboard party held on a Navy command ship using the Security Service. Former National Education Commission Chairman Lee Baeyong is suspected of giving First Lady Kim a gold turtle weighing 37.5 grams and making personnel requests.
