Kakao has launched its first-ever group-wide open recruitment since its founding, stirring up the job market. Kakao's job postings, often dubbed a "dream job" among job seekers due to its high salaries and outstanding benefits, have drawn intense attention from applicants.
"Securing Talent in the AI Era"...First Group-wide Recruitment
Kakao is conducting its first-ever group-wide open recruitment for new crew members (employees) across all divisions, including tech, service, business, design, and staff roles. This recruitment involves six major affiliates: Kakao, Kakao Games, Kakao Mobility, Kakao Bank, Kakao Entertainment, and Kakao Pay. With hundreds of new positions available across all fields, this large-scale hiring drive is primarily aimed at securing talent to accelerate Kakao's AI popularization strategy.
Core of Benefits: 'Rest and Recovery'...Enhanced Work-Life Balance
Online job communities and university campuses are buzzing with reactions such as "The job posting is finally up" and "I really want to work at Kakao, the dream job," reflecting the high level of excitement. Naturally, applicants are focusing on Kakao's employee benefits program.
The core keywords of Kakao’s benefits are 'rest and recovery.' Employees receive a one-month sabbatical and a vacation bonus of 2 million won every three years of service. The last week of each month is designated as a "Monthly Refresh Day," during which a four-day workweek is implemented. Paid leave is also provided for various situations, including family care, children's graduation ceremonies, and infertility treatment.
In terms of health management, Kakao supports employees' physical and mental well-being through annual comprehensive health checkups, up to 30 million won in medical expense support, the "Talk Terrace" counseling space, and the "Recovery Center" rehabilitation program.
Comprehensive Support: Childbirth, Childcare, Housing, and Stability
Kakao operates the largest corporate daycare centers in the IT industry, located in Pangyo and Jeju. These facilities can accommodate over 900 children across Jeju and Pangyo, with operating hours extending to 9 p.m. to accommodate employees with working spouses. Kakao has established a comprehensive set of policies for childbirth and childcare, including maternity leave, spouse paternity leave, infertility leave, adoption leave, and parental leave. Employees with children entering elementary school also receive entrance gifts.
Experts: "Benefits Are a Source of Competitiveness"
Support for living stability is also noteworthy. Kakao offers interest subsidies on loans up to 150 million won, enabling employees to borrow for home purchases, rentals, and even living expenses. The in-house cafeteria "Chunsikdorak" provides meals for just 4,000 won, and employees can freely use annual welfare points worth 3.6 million won without any separate approval process.
Experts view Kakao's benefits strategy as not just a set of "perks," but as a core element driving talent acquisition and long-term retention. They note, "Millennials & Gen Z job seekers value work-life balance and benefits as much as salary," and analyze that "Kakao's diverse programs will enhance the company's image and strengthen its recruitment competitiveness."
