Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province was selected as the Best Institution in the '2025 Eulji Exercise Evaluation' conducted by the provincial government, and received an institutional commendation at the evaluation report meeting held at the South Gyeongsang Provincial Government Office on September 5.
This evaluation was determined through a comprehensive assessment of the crisis response and wartime preparedness capabilities of cities and counties in the province during the Eulji Exercise, which took place from August 18 to 21. The review covered areas such as discussions led by institutional heads, wartime organizational restructuring drills, and the operation of integrated wartime situation rooms.
During this exercise, Yangsan City received high marks for thoroughly conducting a drone terror response drill and a civil defense drill against air raids, both overseen by the mayor and carried out as realistically as possible.
In particular, the 'Comprehensive Drone Terror Response Drill' involved more than 200 participants from 22 organizations and agencies, including military units. Over 200 pieces of equipment across 15 categories, such as helicopters, military armored vehicles, and rescue vehicles, were mobilized, creating a highly realistic scenario.
By swiftly responding to and recovering from a simulated drone and firearm terror attack at the gymnasium in the main stadium, Yangsan City was recognized for significantly strengthening its crisis response capabilities and raising public awareness of security.
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "This award is the result of all our staff working together and actively participating in training that simulated a national emergency. Moving forward, we will continue to thoroughly prepare for disasters and crises to do our utmost to protect the lives and safety of our citizens."
