President Lee Jaemyung will have a luncheon with the leaders of both the ruling and opposition parties on September 8. After the luncheon, President Lee plans to hold an exclusive meeting with People Power Party leader Jang Donghyuk.

Kim Byungwook, Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs, announced during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on September 5, "President Lee is meeting with the leaders of both parties for a candid exchange of views on key state affairs." The luncheon will take place at noon on September 8 at the Presidential Office.

The attendees will include Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, leader Jang, the spokespersons and chiefs of staff from both parties. From the Presidential Office, Chief of Staff Kang Hunsik and Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Woo Sangho will participate. There will be no set agenda, and the meeting will proceed freely.

After the luncheon, President Lee and leader Jang will hold a one-on-one meeting. Since taking office, leader Jang has repeatedly proposed exclusive meetings with the president. At a parliamentary workshop held in Incheon on August 29, leader Jang stated, "The president and the leader of the main opposition party should have dedicated time together to have a serious discussion about the lives of the people who are currently suffering."

Secretary Kim emphasized, "The Presidential Office hopes that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and communication in state affairs."
