'From Learning to Employment': Pyeongtaek City Establishes Integrated Support System Linking Lifelong Learning to Jobs

On September 5, Pyeongtaek City announced that, following the establishment of the Department of Education in July, it will build an integrated support system that organically links lifelong learning programs with related initiatives at the Pyeongtaek Women's New Job Center. The goal is to move beyond simple hobby- or general knowledge-focused lifelong learning, increase the efficiency of educational resources, and achieve tangible results.

To this end, the city will organically connect various programs within its institutions to offer customized educational courses for citizens seeking employment. The Lifelong Learning Division will be responsible for providing basic competency education for employment, while the center will offer step-by-step vocational specialization and practical training based on participants' abilities and needs.

In particular, the center will support professional vocational training graduates who have completed instructor training programs so that they can participate in the local community through the instructor bank system operated by the Lifelong Learning Division.

To make employment counseling more accessible, the city will regularly operate a mobile employment counseling service within the Lifelong Learning Center and set up employment support booths at major events such as the Lifelong Learning Expo.

After employment placement, a variety of programs will be provided to help maintain employment. The Pyeongtaek Women's New Job Center will run follow-up management programs to support work-life balance and workplace adaptation, and will leverage the instructor bank system to ensure efficient circulation of internal human resources.

The city also plans to establish learning clubs centered on vocational training graduates and support ongoing networking and knowledge exchange, thereby fostering a community-based, self-directed learning culture.

A city official stated, "We aim to go beyond simply providing education and build a foundation that enables citizens to develop their careers throughout their lives by offering support that encompasses both practical employment connections and employment retention."
