The KOSPI is moving within a narrow range during the session, weighed down by selling from institutional and foreign investors.
As of 10:33 a.m. on September 5, the KOSPI was trading at 3,202.64, up 0.06% from the previous day.
By investor type, institutions and foreign investors recorded net sales of 58.1 billion won and 48 billion won, respectively, while individual investors made net purchases of 95.9 billion won. In the futures market, institutions and individuals posted net sales of 70 billion won and 96 billion won, respectively, while foreign investors recorded net purchases of 190 billion won.
By sector, performance was mixed. The transportation and storage sector was up 1.35%, while entertainment and culture rose 1.13%, textiles and apparel 1.06%, insurance 0.76%, general services 0.66%, finance 0.48%, electrical and electronics 0.3%, and IT services 0.28%. On the other hand, the electric and gas sector was down 2.07%, metals fell 1.58%, transportation equipment 1.02%, telecommunications 0.65%, paper and wood 0.55%, construction 0.39%, machinery and equipment 0.33%, and chemicals 0.24%.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, more names were in decline. Samsung Electronics was down 0.71%, LG Energy Solution fell 1.28%, Hanwha Aerospace dropped 1.72%, Hyundai Motor 0.56%, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries 0.39%, Kia 0.37%, and KB Financial Group 0.28%. In contrast, SK Hynix rose 3.2%, Samsung Biologics was up 0.59%, and NAVER gained 0.44%.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was trading slightly higher. The KOSDAQ was at 808.43, up 0.37% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions posted net purchases of 17.1 billion won, while foreign investors and individuals recorded net sales of 7.1 billion won and 7.4 billion won, respectively.
Among large-cap KOSDAQ stocks, performance was also mixed. Alteogen was down 0.64%, Ecopro BM fell 0.08%, Peptron dropped 0.99%, Ecopro 0.2%, Legochem Bio 0.74%, Rainbow Robotics 0.72%, and Samchundang Pharm 1.05%. On the other hand, Pharmaresearch was up 2.41%, ABL Bio gained 2.83%, HLB rose 2.15%, and Hugel was up 0.3%.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate was trading at 1,392.5 won, down 2.8 won from the previous day.
