Recognized for Manufacturing Innovation Efforts
Including Smart Factory Construction and Electronic Document Management System Implementation
Boryeong Co., Ltd. announced on September 4 that it received the Presidential Award in the Manufacturing Innovation category at the "2025 SME Technology and Management Innovation Grand Prize," held at the Jeju International Convention Center.
The "SME Technology and Management Innovation Grand Prize," organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, is an annual event designed to showcase the achievements of innovative domestic small and medium-sized enterprises on the global stage and expand their market opportunities. Each year, individuals and companies that have contributed to industrial and economic development through technological and managerial innovation are recognized and encouraged.
Boryeong was selected as an award recipient in recognition of its achievements in building the "Yesan Campus," a pharmaceutical production facility, as a smart factory, thereby contributing to manufacturing quality innovation and strengthening global competitiveness.
Since 2019, Boryeong has participated in the government-led smart factory construction and advancement project, promoting digital transformation across the entire factory, including production, quality, and logistics. The company has applied automatic control and interface systems to major manufacturing equipment, enabling real-time collection and analysis of process data and enhancing process stability. By eliminating unnecessary waiting times and inefficiencies, Boryeong succeeded in reducing the manufacturing lead time for finished products from the previous 15 days to 10.5 days.
In addition, Boryeong introduced an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) to establish a framework for electronically managing all processes related to GMP documents, including creation, modification, storage, sharing, and disposal. This has strengthened document traceability and access control, and by ensuring data integrity and reliability in quality management, has contributed to enhancing manufacturing competitiveness.
Building on these manufacturing innovation efforts, Boryeong signed a CDMO contract for anticancer injectables with the Taiwanese pharmaceutical company Lotus in December 2024, and in July of this year, secured a global CDMO contract with Cheplapharm to supply the schizophrenia treatment "Zyprexa" to 46 countries worldwide, demonstrating its world-class manufacturing competitiveness.
Going forward, Boryeong plans to continue advancing its smart factory by introducing a Quality Management System (QMS). QMS is a system that systematically manages all quality activities throughout the entire product cycle, from development to production and shipment, by integrating quality data from the manufacturing site and enabling prompt responses in the event of quality issues. Boryeong intends to apply QMS to all production lines at the Yesan Campus to further enhance production efficiency and customer trust.
