At this year's event, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Craft and Design Foundation, the city was honored for its "2024 Public Design for Enhanced Everyday Safety" project, which involved developing and piloting disaster safety designs to prevent flood damage.

This project was carried out to develop and apply standard designs for disaster safety facilities and emergency evacuation guidance signs, aiming to ensure the safety of citizens visiting riverside trails and waterfront parks.

The city finalized the standard designs through a series of steps, including on-site inspections of riverside trails, user surveys, consultations with the Public Design Committee, and gathering feedback from relevant organizations. Through this project, the city established guidelines to ensure consistent production and installation of related facilities, thereby enhancing the visibility of disaster safety infrastructure.

In particular, the "Turning Easy Cue" life-saving lifebuoy design, developed through this project, also received the main award in the product design concept category at the "iF Design Award 2025," one of the world's top three design competitions.

Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "We will continue to actively promote public design projects to realize harmonious and consistent public design in the future."
