The county also received an institutional commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety and is expected to be granted incentives such as special grants. Eight local governments nationwide, including Gochang County, participated in this contest. The final selection was made after on-site presentations and evaluations by an on-site judging panel.
The county was praised for its theme, "Early Completion of Designated Donations Driven by Donor Empathy," as the early fundraising completion of last year's designated donation projects was highlighted as a positive example.
Previously, the county's designated donation project, "Gochang Star Development Project Season 1," which supported the Yeongseon High School baseball team, exceeded its fundraising goal of 20 million won in just two weeks, thanks to the empathy and support of donors.
Additionally, the "Gochang Youth Bright Future Program," which provides overseas cultural experiences for youth, completed its early fundraising of 60 million won within six months.
Furthermore, the remodeling project for the Donghak Peasant Revolution Promotion Center was highly evaluated for maximizing historical and cultural promotion effects by linking it to the General Jeon Bongjun Statue Park.
In particular, the county received high marks for its management of intermediary organizations for return gifts and for promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program by attaching promotional stickers to parcel boxes and document envelopes through an MOU with Gochang Post Office.
County Governor Shim Deokseop stated, "We are responding to the purpose of the Hometown Love Donation Program with tailored projects, including those for youth and initiatives that boost local pride. We will continue to promote Gochang and strive to develop unique donation programs for sustainable regional development."
