The Freedom Edge exercise is an annual training conducted by South Korea, the United States, and Japan to respond to North Korea's nuclear and missile threats and to safeguard regional peace and stability. It was first held in June last year. Freedom Edge was the first time the three countries moved beyond a one-off trilateral exercise to conduct a regular multi-domain drill.

Regarding this, the Joint Chiefs of Staff stated, "Through the 2025 Freedom Edge exercise, the three countries will strengthen operational capabilities in multiple domains such as maritime, air, and cyber, and will maintain a strong and stable cooperative relationship by improving interoperability among the three nations."
