This event is expected to establish itself as a signature local festival where residents and visitors come together, while also commemorating the historical significance of Yeongdeungpo as the birthplace of Korea's beer industry.

The domestic beer industry began in 1933 when two beer factories were established in Yeongdeungpo. After the production facilities were relocated, the factories were demolished in the 1990s, and Yeongdeungpo Park and apartment complexes now occupy the site.

Reflecting the history of the former OB Beer factory site, the leading brand Cass will participate in the festival, offering tasting events and various activities. In addition, 12 renowned craft beer companies from across the country will present more than 70 different types of beer. There will also be food trucks on-site, serving over 30 menu items.

The citizen-participation event “Running Crew Challenge” will also be held. From September 9 to 20, anyone who runs at least 2 kilometers within Yeongdeungpo, posts a verification photo with the hashtag #YeongdeungpoOriginalBeerFestival, and confirms it at the festival venue will receive two cans of Cass Zero.

The festival will also feature a variety of performances. After the opening lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on September 19, the band Crying Nut will perform. On September 20, singer Kim Suchan, an EDM performance, and the finals of the residents' singing contest will take place. Additional hands-on programs, such as “Make Your Own Craft Beer” and “Put the Bottle Cap In,” will also be available.

Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “As the birthplace and original city of Korea's beer industry, Yeongdeungpo has prepared this symbolic festival to connect the past and present, allowing everyone to come together and enjoy. I hope you will participate in various events such as the Running Crew Challenge and enjoy a refreshing glass of beer.”
