Buddhist Culture Expo to Be Held at Dongguk University on September 9-10: Featuring Lectures, Meditation, and Music

The 2025 Buddhist Culture Expo will be held in conjunction with Dongguk University's job fair, 'Better Dongguk, Better Future.' The event will offer programs designed to provide 'rest for the mind' through Buddhist culture and Seon meditation, including: a lecture on Buddhist humanities by lecturer Choi Taeseong, a Seon meditation lecture by Venerable Juseok, hands-on experiences of Buddhist culture, and a meditation music concert.

The opening ceremony will take place on the morning of September 9, followed by a lecture by renowned Korean history lecturer Choi Taeseong, titled 'Wisdom of Life Through the History of Buddhism.'

On September 10, Venerable Juseok, chairman of the Myeonggyeong Cultural Foundation, will deliver a Seon meditation lecture on the theme 'You Are Precious, You Are the Only One.'

Lecture registration is available online on a first-come, first-served basis and is free of charge.

There will also be booths for hands-on experiences of Buddhist culture. These will be set up around the Law School building near Paljeongdo at Dongguk University, offering activities such as Seon meditation experiences, making lotus lanterns from paper flowers, consultations on ordination, and promotions for temple cuisine and templestay programs. During lunchtime, a music concert featuring Korean traditional music, jazz, classical, and meditation music will be held at Paljeongdo Square.

An event official stated, "We aim to strengthen communication with the younger generation and create an easy and enjoyable Buddhist culture that resonates with the public through a modern reinterpretation of Buddhist culture," adding, "We will continue to create various opportunities for Buddhist culture to communicate and connect with people of all generations."
