The underground joint utility tunnel is a nationally important facility where key infrastructure such as electricity, telecommunications, and gas are concentrated. Even a minor accident can result in significant damage to the entire city. Therefore, thorough safety management at all times is essential. In particular, due to its enclosed structure, smoke can spread rapidly and damage can escalate quickly in the event of a fire, making proactive inspections and management crucial.
Jae Byung Kim stated, "The joint utility tunnel is a facility where electricity, telecommunications, and gas are all gathered, so even a small spark can bring the entire city to a halt. We will work with relevant agencies to establish a seamless safety network through thorough preventive inspections, so that residents can feel secure."
