Ministry of SMEs and Startups Holds 'Small and Medium Business Technology and Management Innovation Expo'

"In the AI Era, SMEs to Take Center Stage Globally"

Domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with artificial intelligence (AI)-based innovative technologies have demonstrated their competitiveness in the global market.

On September 4, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held the "2025 Small and Medium Business Technology and Management Innovation Expo" at the Jeju International Convention Center (ICC) in Seogwipo, Jeju, as a side event of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) SME Ministerial Meeting.

This year, in line with the key agenda of the APEC SME Ministerial Meeting, 23 AI-based SMEs showcased their innovative products under four concepts, including manufacturing and daily life. The participating companies were selected from among those wishing to participate and recognized for their achievements in technology development, based on a comprehensive review of their technological and product innovation, potential for global expansion, and possibilities for cooperation with APEC member countries.

At the opening ceremony held on this day, Kim Geunho, CEO of JooIn Information System, who developed an integrated building automation control system for energy savings, and Park Chanhwa, CEO of KTC, which holds the top domestic market share for mobile phone SIM trays, were awarded the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. Ham Ilhan, CEO of H Energy, who improved distributed power generation systems in the new power market, was honored with the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit.

Hansung Sook, Minister of SMEs and Startups, stated, "In this era of innovation driven by AI, we will focus our policy capabilities on supporting AI-based technological innovation and commercialization, as well as fostering an AI startup ecosystem, so that our SMEs can take center stage on the global stage."
