Gwangju Buk-gu District will launch the "Buk-gu Sharing Car" program, which allows residents to borrow government vehicles free of charge on weekends and public holidays when the vehicles are not in official use.

Eligible users include recipients of basic livelihood support, low-income households, multicultural and single-parent families, families of North Korean defectors, and families with multiple children (raising two or more children under the age of 19). Drivers must be between 26 and 70 years old, hold a valid driver's license, and have no record of major traffic accidents in the past two years.

Two vehicles are available for sharing: a van (11 seats) and a sedan (5 seats). Users are responsible for fuel costs, tolls, parking fees, and fines. Each household may apply up to twice per month, and during consecutive public holidays, a vehicle can be used for up to five days at a time.

Residents who wish to use the vehicles must submit an application form and a consent form for the collection and use of personal information to the Buk-gu District Office Accounting Division by visiting in person, by fax, or by email, between 20 and 10 days before the desired date of use. Eligibility will be verified in the order applications are received, and applicants will be notified of approval via text message at least five days before the date of use. Approved users must pick up and return the vehicle at the designated location.

District Mayor Moon In stated, "The government vehicle sharing project is a practical, resident-focused service and an initiative to promote the sharing economy. We will continue to implement various policies to enhance daily convenience for our residents."
