Yangsan City Promotes Overseas Expansion for Companies Through Shipbuilding and Marine Export Consultation Meeting

Support for Five Companies Participating in the 2025 International Shipbuilding and Marine Export Consultation Meeting
Expanding Global Market Access for Local Manufacturers
One-on-One Consultations with Overseas Buyers to Strengthen Export Capabilities

Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province (Mayor Na Dongyeon) co-hosted the "2025 International Shipbuilding and Marine Export Consultation Meeting (Smart & Green Energy Maritime Plaza 2025)" on September 4, together with South Gyeongsang Province and seven local governments (Yangsan, Changwon, Tongyeong, Gimhae, Geoje, Haman, and Goseong). The city dispatched five manufacturing companies from the shipbuilding and marine sector to provide practical support for local companies seeking to enter the global market.

The export consultation meeting, held at the Changwon Exhibition Convention Center (CECO), aimed to help shipbuilding and marine export companies in the province expand into overseas markets. The event was jointly organized by Gyeongnam Technopark, Gyeongnam Shipbuilding & Marine Equipment Cooperative, Korea International Trade Association, and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), with participation from 46 companies in the province, achieving great success.

This year, 45 buyers from 15 countries, including China, Japan, India, and Indonesia, were invited. These buyers represented four fields closely related to the shipbuilding and marine industry: shipowners and shipping companies, shipyards and design specialists, ship management and repair shipyards, and marine equipment agents. One-on-one matching consultations were held between these buyers and participating companies, focusing on products with high purchase potential.

Since March, the city has recruited participating companies and selected a total of five: Gunse High Pressure (spiral elbow), Donghwa TCA (copper alloy pipe tubes, round bars, coils, etc.), Korea Fluid Machinery (marine air vacuum pumps), Goryeo Filter (strainers), and Magic Korea (Mako oil-water separation filters, etc.). The city also provided support for essential consultation expenses, including buyer invitation costs and interpretation fees.

These companies not only held continuous one-on-one matching consultations with buyers from over 40 overseas companies at the export consultation meeting, but also received various benefits to strengthen their export capabilities, such as promotional material production support, transportation fee support, and expert consultations on customs clearance and contract drafting.

With this consultation meeting as a starting point, the city plans to further solidify the presence of promising local companies in the shipbuilding and marine industry, which is a key industry in South Gyeongsang Province, and expand support for overseas market development. In particular, the city will strengthen support for managing overseas clients to ensure that the consultations with international buyers discovered at the event lead to actual contracts and exports.

The export consultation meeting, which began in 2006, marked its 11th edition this year and is held every fall. Last year, 34 overseas buyers from seven countries, including Indonesia, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), were invited. Forty-five promising companies from the province participated, resulting in 198 consultations and export discussions totaling 180 million dollars.
